One of a kind Contemporary art

One of a kind Contemporary art

One-of-a-kind contemporary art refers to modern artworks created using new methods such as digital technology.

Using naturally deteriorated and blended glass plate negatives as my primary materials offers me a wide experimental margin. I produce images that very few other artists worldwide have the privilege to do.

Glass plate negatives are the films photographers used to take their pictures from 1850 until the early 20th century. However, my glass plate negatives were abandoned and left exposed to the elements of nature for over 40 years. The neglection combined with my intervention has given them their final and unique character today.

I create art categorized in the contemporary art frame using modern technology and digital software.

The forced entrance of humidity, which offers its magnificent patterns by surrounding the images as a frame, creates a harmonic synthesis that provides all the elements used in a contemporary art piece.

The natural deterioration of these glass plates' negatives and the random blending of them by combining two, or three images, which have nothing to do with each other, offer a new balance, referring to the meaning of their new existence as a single image. The patterns generated by the forced entrance of humidity into the photo also create a one-of-a-kind contemporary art touch that offers the composition its unique character. The pictures dating from the early beginning of the 20th century have all the visual art aesthetics and components of contemporary artworks. The scanning methods used to enlarge these images and the digital manipulation turn the neglected pictures of the past into a valuable fine art items today. The sizes these images are offered to buyers add value to them because they eliminate any questions that may confuse viewers that feel the need to recognize the depicted characters. It also brings to their attention the shapes and details of the natural patterns that compose the images.

The artwork is only printed once and hand signed with acrylic paint. All artworks in this series follow up with a letter of authenticity to my clients. The paintings have the privilege of being the first of their kind worldwide.

Credit goes to the talented original photographer of these pictures, Spyros Haritou (1901-1991), who has provided me with such perfect compositions.

All contemporary art is printed with Archival Pigment ink (Giclee Print) on Fine Art paper 310gr.
