The 'Out of Nowhere' series features unusual and unexpected visuals. After spending a long time studying this specific black and white glass negative plate and having previously altered the major figures for my 'Strangers Forever' Collection, I noticed patterns in the deteriorating areas that reminded me of rivers and deserts. I immediately began extracting these elements, employing color to transform them into imaginative aerial photographs, one of which resembled a mountain. This method enabled me to reveal hidden features of the degradation, bringing to life several fascinating views.
For the first time, I used an external image in my main composition, which was a deviation from my usual approach of employing found compositions with no additions or subtractions. This represents a new degree of liberation in my creativity. It also excludes ‘Out of Nowhere’ from my ‘Strangers Forever’ collection, which is defined by the random blending of unknown characters depicted on each plate.
