I showcased "Strangers Forever" at my exhibition in Athens in September 2022, with 10 pieces on display for visitors.
Strangers Forever is an ongoing collection derived from glass plates, typically two, that remain fused together. These plates contain individual images of unrelated people from the past.
Originally, the photographer stored these plates in a small box on a shelf for future reference. Over the years, due to poor storage conditions, the glass plates adhered to one another, forming a single solid piece.
Developing a method to separate them has allowed me to divide them into smaller units. This separation enables light to pass through, making it possible to scan the images.
The chosen detail, capturing two or more individuals from the different plates, creates a unique narrative. These strangers, brought together by chance, have now been transformed to exist eternally, forever.
The installation seeks to reveal the unique stories born from these chance encounters. It struggles to allow colour to dominate the compositions from its past, a past that had not enough money for a smiling or loosened-up picture.
The collection is also offered printed. All copies are hand-signed and numbered in a limited edition.
